In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Pratik Gandhi opens up about his foray into Hindi romantic cinema with ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar‘, sharing his enjoyment of the genre and insights into working with co-stars Vidya Balan and Ileana D’Cruz and more. Excerpts…
‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ marks your first romantic film in Hindi…
I have done one romantic film in Gujarati, but yes, this is my first in Hindi.
Did you enjoy working in this genre?
Oh, absolutely. I wanted to experiment with it. Romance is something we’ve all cherished. It’s timeless and will always have an audience. I particularly enjoy the humor in rom-coms.

What’s your favorite Hindi rom-com?
I adore ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Hum Tum.’ ‘Chupke Chupke’ is a classic favorite. Even my ten-year-old daughter knows it by heart.
Each actor in ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ has a different approach. How was it working with them?

That’s the beauty of this profession. Every actor brings their own methods and experiences. It adds depth and interest. When all these elements come together, the result is magical. I feel fortunate to work with such talented actors.

You’ve shared the screen with Vidya Balan. How was that experience?
Vidya is a big star, yet she’s incredibly warm and down-to-earth. Since we were playing a married couple, building that rapport was essential. Fortunately, we hit it off quite quickly.
And what about working with Ileana D’Cruz?
Ileana is very genuine and effortless. Despite not having the chance to rehearse due to her bout with COVID-19, we clicked instantly on set. It was a smooth collaboration.
You have several projects lined up. How does that feel?
It’s gratifying. It validates the hard work I’ve put in. Everyone’s journey is different, and success can’t be measured the same way for all.
